The Galveston community embraced Reid during this unimaginable loss, and he has channeled his grief into purpose—advocating for safer streets and honoring Mason’s legacy of love. Now that Mason has “gone home,” Reid helps others “come home” to Galveston, ensuring that every family he serves feels the same embrace of community and belonging that sustained him when he needed it most. Through his work as a realtor, Reid transforms heartbreak into hope, guiding others toward the Island lifestyle he and Mason both treasured.
Mason's Legacy
Mason’s legacy continues to ripple far beyond the Island he called home. In his name, sports scholarships help young athletes chase their dreams on the field, opening doors to the same joy and discipline Mason found in the game. A hospital in Kenya now carries forward a piece of his compassionate spirit, extending care and hope to families a world away. Closer to home, the fight for House Bill 1482—“Mason & Sam’s Law”—is reshaping how Texas deals with repeat drunk drivers, turning unimaginable loss into life‑saving change for others on the road. Through these efforts, Mason’s story has become a living testimony that love can outlast tragedy and that one young life can inspire protection, opportunity, and healing for countless others.
